Jerry Yang’s Memo to Yahoo Staff
Jerry Yang sent an e-mail to Yahoo! staff on Microsoft’s withdrawal of its unsolicited offer to purchase Yahoo.
In the e-mail he implicitly confirmed that some shareholders supported the management’s and board’s strategy to resist the Microsoft offer at the price point put on the table.
Yang also reiterated that the scrutiny will continue. One could suppose that Microsoft will also be watching for a reduced stock price. A price that is too low will inevitably invite another offer.
Yang then continues in the e-mail to praise Yahoo corporate culture and mentions the company will be facing a large transition. Certainly the company must perform. Microsoft for some time to come will be like a vulture flying over the head of a person in the desert. One stumble and it will swoop down to feed on the carcass.
This isn’t over . . .
