Monorail Red Too Hot for Customers – Monorail Blue is Doing Test Runs

Miceage is reporting that Monorail Red at Disneyland is still not going to be up and running for guests anytime soon. Apparently there is a fundamental design problem that prevents airflow in the cars – leading to very hot rides. The previous Monorail had windows that would open wide permitting the Southern California air to ventilate riders. Monorail Red is designed to prevent wide-open windows – turning the cars into a greenhouse under the California sun.

The monorail also suffers from other chasis design issues that will have to be addressed one by one.

The LA Times is reporting that Disney has confirmed those problems. Disney is working on the issues keeping the train out of service one by one.

The LA Times is reporting some good news – Monorail Blue is making late night test runs around the park. No word yet on when it will be available for the park-going public. Micechat has pictures of Monorail Blue when it arrived. Those pictures are here.
