Battlestar Galactica – An Adam & Eve Allegory
I just finished watching the latest Battlestar Galactica and I believe the religious references along with the diminishing population will lead to only one outcome.
Earth is finally reached with only two survivors, one male – one female. The question is – will it be two humans, two cylons, or one of each. I suppose it may matter who it is, but I think the male (Adam) will be Gaius.
EDIT MARCH 2009: Almost – more than two survive, but Eve was with them.
Also, the human population has been forced out of their previous homeworld – one could argue this is like the Garden of Eden. The most interesting development is the small monotheistic “cult” with which Baltar has found himself forced to live. Although it is not part of the Adam & Eve story, there are parallels to the early Christian church.
